About
LIVE EDITIONS is a new programme of movement, sound and performance in Eastbourne and the South Downs, launching summer 2026, with 25+ artists from Sussex and beyond leading residencies, workshops, gatherings and performances.
The programme has evolved from research (2024–26) exploring how a place-based initiative might work, through conversations with artists, activists, ecologists, rangers and farmers, councillors, community members and arts organisations.
With LIVE EDITIONS, I’m exploring different approaches to place-based work, through creating spaces for research, participation, collaboration and convivial exchange between and among artists and audiences. Activities have been co-designed with artists, with a long-term commitment to creating the conditions for bold, live work to thrive in unfettered and imaginative ways.
The first year of programming (see a summary here) takes place across community and cultural spaces in Eastbourne and the South Downs National Park, funded by Arts Council England, with generous in-kind support from Towner Eastbourne, Devonshire Collective, Leaf Hall Community Arts Centre, Home Live Art, Live Art Development Agency and Bread & Butter PR.
I’m truly grateful to the partners and contributing artists and to everyone involved in the research running up to this, for being part of this new initiative.
Come join us if you can, follow @liveeditions_ and feel welcome to get in touch if you’d like to learn more or have ideas for the programme as it develops.
Nikki Tomlinson
Director, LIVE EDITIONS
